Arrecife Alacranes del Golfo de México: Distribución interanual de invertebrados sésiles y macroalgas

El Arrecife Alacranes, con una superficie aproximada de 300 km2, es uno de los sistemas arrecifales oceánicos más grandes de México. Su laguna arrecifal constituye uno de los ambientes más heterogéneos, albergando una amplia variedad de biotopos y presentando probablemente la mayor variabilidad espacial, lo que se traduce en marcadas diferencias en la composición faunística y florística. Bajo esta perspectiva se identificaron ciertos procesos como referencia para la conservación, manejo, vigilancia, y aprovechamiento de recursos, considerando las diferencias propias de cada área de la laguna. Se seleccionaron 35 sitios de muestreo, dividiendo la laguna en tres sectores: norte, centro y sur en dos periodos (2015 y 2017), con metodología no extractiva (fototransectos). Se elaboró una matriz de cobertura donde fueron calculados los parámetros comunitarios más comunes con el propósito de obtener una síntesis cuantitativa descriptiva robusta. Se obtuvo que la riqueza de especies fue de 58 y la diversidad de 4,44 bits·ind-1. El alga parda Lobophora variegata, fue la especie más dominante, seguida por el coral duro Montastraea cavernosa. La similitud entre los sitios, determinada mediante el índice de Bray-Curtis, permitió identificar áreas específicas dentro de la laguna. En la distribución espacial revelada por el análisis de coordenadas principales, las especies se agruparon cerca del centro de los ejes, aunque muchas permanecieron aisladas o formando pares. Debido a su carácter oceánico, no se observaron diferencias bióticas significativas entre ambos periodos de estudio. Sin embargo, la influencia del viento resultó determinante para comprender la dinámica lagunar. Los resultados obtenidos evidencian áreas con marcadas diferencias ecológicas, lo que puede sustentar propuestas de manejo diferenciadas y adaptativas.
