Abstract

Objective: To characterize the latency time, depth time and total duration time of 4% articaine and 2% lidocaine- both with 1:100,000 epinephrine - during the extraction through odontosection of impacted mandibular third molars by means of a truncal anesthesia technique.Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study of case series selected by a non-probabilistic sampling was conducted on 27 subjects who underwent extraction through odontosection of impacted mandibular third molars using either 4% articaine or 2% lidocaine- both with 1:100,000 epinephrine. A procedure related data collection ensued.Results: Total duration time of anesthetic effect showed a statistical significant longer effect when using 4% articaine in comparison with 2% lidocaine.
